It's not that vintage items are "valuable" simply because they are vintage;
I believe there's a good reason why mass-produced items from decades ago
continue to captivate people even now.
Why aren't acrylic rugs
and polyester blankets sold at high prices, touting them as vintage?
I think the difference
is ultimately "quality."
When talking about BasShu's craftsmanship,
we often use the word "vintage."
In fact, we sometimes take old fabrics from decades ago as a base,
carefully disassemble them by hand down to the thread level, have the fibers analyzed,
and then incorporate that quality into our products.
This blanket, which is 100% wool and Made in Osaka (Izumiotsu City),
is one such example.
(People are often surprised when they hear it's made in Osaka, but I've written about the background
in a previous blog post, so please read it if you like.)
If you're particular about clothes, when choosing knitwear,
you'd choose wool over acrylic, wouldn't you?
The same goes for blankets.
Wool is definitely warmer.
Anyone who has used a 100% wool blanket will understand that
the type of warmth it provides is fundamentally different from synthetic fibers.
As you can see in the photo, natural wool fibers
contain a lot of air within their curly structure.
Similar to a down coat, this layer of air blocks outside air and retains heat.

Furthermore...
You might not be interested in this much detail (lol),
but wool also has various characteristics depending on its origin,
and BasShu's blankets are particular about achieving a pleasant feel against the skin without being stiff,
with a blend of 30% British wool and 70% Oceanian wool.
Lightweight, soft, and comfortable.
These days, many blankets made from heat-generating materials are sold,
but instead of buying cheap items that you'll replace,
I want people to choose materials that they can enjoy for a long time in their own way.
