One-of-a-kind African indigo fabric, also available in our store.
The origin of it all was, I suppose, more than six years ago.
It started when I first found it in a certain antique shop in NY.

At that time, this fabric, displayed beautifully like a work of art,
caught my eye,
and even after asking for the price, wanting to buy it,
it wasn't something I could easily decide on.
After much hesitation and deliberation, I finally thought,
"Oh, whatever!" and stopped thinking about it,
and bought it at an unbelievable price.
Later, when I saw it being sold for less than a tenth of the price at a flea market in LA, I was shocked (lol).

However, since it's vintage, the value is determined by the shop owner,
so it wasn't a rip-off or anything.
Nowadays, you can compare prices for most things online,
so even that failed experience is a fond and nostalgic memory.
And so,
I always wanted to have this in my shop when I opened Basshu,
and that wish has finally come true.
We're offering it at a very reasonable price.
Each piece is completely different, so choosing which one to get is part of the fun.
By the way,
this is how we use it at home:
Looking at them all lined up, I haven't really used them in any special way, have I? My apologies (lol).
......What I mean is that,
even if you use it however you want, haphazardly,
the rustic and primitive texture that this fabric inherently possesses is incredibly versatile,
and it will all be perfectly fine!
So everyone,
feel free to incorporate it into your home without worry.
Just draping it over a sofa can really change the atmosphere.

Rush grass rug digression:
Starting this week, this is what we've laid down at home ↓↓
For next year's project, we're trying out Ryukyu rush grass from Okinawa.
The feel underfoot is already completely different.
My husband, who loves public baths,
seems to associate the scent of rush grass with bath changing rooms,
and was happily rolling around on it after his bath.
We're considering whether to commercialize it after using it this summer.
That was an irrelevant digression about next year.
