Decluttering is scary ~My life is made of unnecessary things~

断捨離こわい 〜私の暮らしは余計なものでできている〜

The other day,

my winter outerwear came back from the cleaning service that stores it for you...

I opened the box, then quietly closed it again.

In the past few months, it's become a "no space for you!" situation.

In fact, I'm more inclined to ask how all this even fit in there before.

---

Actually, I have a question:

If you live a normal life,

you receive dishes as congratulatory gifts,

you receive souvenirs,

you go to concerts and festivals and buy T-shirts you'll never wear again,

you buy things on impulse while traveling that you regret later,

you have shoes that are too painful to wear but you can't part with,

all the things your husband buys, etc.,

or special issues of Quick Japan that you can't throw away.

Just by living, I feel like these kinds of unnecessary "noises"

always seem to follow me around... am I the only one who feels this way?

In fact, as I write this, it occurs to me that it's not an exaggeration to say that my life is "made up of unnecessary things!" (lol)

For a while,

I read various books on "decluttering,"

but I decided it wasn't for me and never took action, yet

the problem remains unsolved.

I think I could declutter if I excluded some things I'm attached to.

But this is the result of choosing "not to" for so long.

----

A room without "noise"

somehow makes me uncomfortable.

Even when I visit friends' or acquaintances' homes,

if the space is perfectly organized with tasteful items, I quickly want to leave,

but in a stylish home with a lot of noise, I tend to drink more and stay longer.

For the former,

I think, "Come on, at least have some mismatched items!" (a wish)

"Don't you have any emotional flaws?!" (an assumption),

and I wonder if this person is the type to cut out such noise in their relationships too.

*[Absolutely do not take this as advice]

I have no intention of denying or making fun of decluttering.

I understand that reducing possessions can create peace of mind. But,

I wonder if pushing that to an extreme accumulates the strain of cutting things out.

Because, a childhood home with absolutely no unnecessary things is somehow scary.

Therefore,

I think it's okay to accept the noise that follows you through life.

To have that kind of resolve.

Because shopping isn't fun without a little guilt!

Right, everyone?!!!! (lol)

▼Finally, please take a look at a world made of nothing but unnecessary things
