The reason we choose Banshu-ori, a tradition in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture for 200 years, is none other than its texture.
Yarn-dyed fabric
Banshu-ori is a "yarn-dyed" fabric, meaning the yarn is dyed before weaving to create patterns. This results in beautiful color from any angle and a depth of color that cannot be achieved with printing.
Traditional Power Looms
BasShu is particular not only about the production area but also about the looms. The operation of traditional power looms is made possible by the skills of artisans. They adjust the tension to avoid stress on the yarn and weave slowly over time.
