This is BasShu's standard placemat made from "Banshu-ori" fabric. The 100% cotton chambray fabric, woven slowly with no effort or time spared, possesses a natural and soft texture. Double stitching is used for the seams, resulting in a simple yet sophisticated design that brings out the best of the fabric's character.
What is the BASIC series?
The BASIC series was born from the desire to "convey the charm of Banshu-ori." These long-selling products, launched when the brand was established in 2007, still boast unshakeable popularity.
Original Banshu-ori Fabric
The reason we choose Banshu-ori, a tradition passed down for 200 years in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, is none other than its unique texture.
Yarn-dyed Fabric
Banshu-ori is a "yarn-dyed" fabric, meaning the yarn is dyed before weaving to create patterns. This results in beautiful, deep coloration that can be seen from any angle and cannot be achieved with printing.
Traditional Power Looms
BasShu is particular not only about the production area but also about the looms. The operation of traditional power looms is made possible by the skill of artisans. They carefully adjust the tension to avoid stressing the yarn and weave it slowly.
Natural and Warm Texture
The 100% cotton chambray fabric, woven slowly with no effort or time spared, possesses a natural and warm texture. While it is not suitable for mass production, we choose this Banshu-ori.

About the Label
The brand name, attached with red stitching, is designed to naturally unravel with use rather than being firmly sewn on. You can choose to remove it or leave it as is.
