No matter how much effort you put into your interior design,
just one of these
can subtly become the centerpiece of the room:
a bean bag cushion.
Because of its large surface area, it tends to have a strong presence, for better or worse.
No, I shouldn't say "for better or worse" in such an ambiguous way.

I think it's one of those tricky items where if you place one made of cheap material,
it can instantly ruin the entire space.
There are many cases where people buy them casually, thinking "it would be convenient to have one,"
and then regret it later,
so it's better to choose carefully.
That being said,
I think there are various reasons for choosing one, such as
whether it makes you lazy or not,
its price, or its cute shape.
Therefore, we want to add
"texture" to those reasons.

Something that is pleasing to the eye,
and simply brimming with the charm of its fabric.
Something that doesn't interfere with your preferred lifestyle.
Something you can feel at home with.
So, this is what happens when Basshu makes one.
For the fabric, we adopted Banshu-ori ripstop.
Ripstop, which has long been synonymous with military fabric,
is densely woven yet light to the touch and durable,
and develops a textured, uneven surface with washing.
We thought it was the perfect fabric
to simply highlight its good texture.
So, to bring out that texture in the finishing process,
we vigorously wash it to complete the product.
We also use leather (cowhide) in parts,
and we wash that vigorously too, without concern.
For sewing, we asked a factory in Okayama that specializes in military jackets
to create each piece with puckering.
As you can see in the photos, the stitching has a great character.

The main body of the bean bag cushion (with the cover removed)
was custom-made by a domestic manufacturer in Osaka.
The ultra-small beads we chose are light and soft,
and will increase their holding power with use.
