"What, it's not printed?!"
That's what people say,
But no, it's not printed.
The pattern is made by
first dyeing the rush grass,
then all of it is expressed through weaving.
That's why BasShu's rush grass rugs
have depth from any angle,
and the pattern won't fade like a print.
Committed to such craftsman-challenging quality,
this year we've again created it with the long-established tatami mat maker [Ikegami Hikotaro Shoten] x BasShu.
This collaboration is entering its third year.

So, I'll introduce all three patterns.

A new color featuring the natural, undyed color of rush grass.
Natural x Gray.
With a lot of unbleached natural color, it has a very "tatami-like" feel,
and it might be the most refreshing pattern yet.

While the market is flooded with inexpensive Chinese-made rush grass rugs,
BasShu is committed to domestic rush grass, specifically
the fresh, thick rush grass from Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture,
which offers a different elasticity when stepped on!
The size is 140 x 200cm.
This is what it looks like when you lie down on it.
(*The sofa in the back is a two-seater.)

Actually, rush grass rugs are perfect for the humid rainy season rather than just summer.
Just like how tatami mats don't feel damp when you step on them,
rush grass itself absorbs moisture, so
it helps with room humidity control.
The back has anti-slip specifications ↓↓

Yes, it folds up this compactly.
It comes with a transparent bag when purchased,
so you can just put it in the closet when winter comes.

Next, blue.
This is also a color scheme combined with undyed natural color.

The pattern is based on the now-defunct BEACON BLANKET,
which was produced in the northeastern United States in the early 1900s.
Originally, they were colorful outdoor blankets, but
expressing them in two tones with rush grass turned out surprisingly well,
and I think it's a design that goes well with sofas.

The surface has natural woven unevenness,
and it feels nice even when you lie down on it.
This blue definitely pairs well with denim sofas and cushions.

And finally, navy.

I'm wearing navy today too,
whether it's clothes, interiors, anything.....
I've always loved navy,
it's a color I almost unconsciously include in planning.

Ah, navy is so calming, isn't it?
Is it just me? Lol

What do you think?
I hope this helps those who are unsure.
Also, of course, they are available in stores,
so if you'd like to see them in person, please come visit.
We are usually closed on weekends,
but we will be open all day next Saturday, June 29th.
