Reason for rewriting "ABOUT US"

「ABOUT US」を書き換えた理由

The ABOUT US page, which hadn't changed since the company's founding, has been updated.

Leaving it untouched for so long isn't really something to declare proudly (lol),

but one of the reasons I finally decided to make the effort to correct it was:

The increasing amount of incorrect product information about us on the internet.

---

The most common misconception is that all BasShu products are categorized as "Banshu-ori."

While it's true that the brand started with Banshu-ori and it remains a core production background,

our denim is made in Okayama,

our towels are made in Imabari,

our wool blankets are made in Osaka.

And our Igusa rugs are made in Fukuoka.

Furthermore, cabinet covers and quilts that cannot be produced domestically are made in China,

and hand-woven rugs are made in India.

---

Neither our wool blankets nor our Igusa rugs are "Banshu-ori."

For the sake of the artisans in each region who are dedicated to their craft with pride, and for the consumers,

I believe we should individually request corrections from now on.

How much do you trust the product information on major websites?

* Below is an excerpt from "ABOUT US"

"Origin" is "Quality"

We are particular about "origin."

BasShu, which started with Banshu-ori, later began producing towels in Imabari, blankets in Izumiotsu,

denim in Kojima, and Igusa in Chikugo. This is a result of pursuing quality.

Just as the texture of Banshu-ori can only be created by the abundant soft water of Nishiwaki and the skill of experienced artisans,

when we pursue the quality of fabric, we inevitably arrive at that specific location.

Reliable production areas backed by history and climate – sometimes these encounters extend overseas, and we also work on manufacturing with workshops in India and China.

There is also an inevitability that can only be born there.

This was an opportunity to deeply reflect on who we are and what we want to achieve.

Similar to this blog, I've renewed my commitment to convey our message as a brand,

using "our own words" with genuine warmth.

And so, today we launched the special feature page for "IGUSA RUG."

It talks extensively about the production areas and designs.

I think it will be very helpful for those who are struggling with color choices.

Well then, everyone, have a wonderful Golden Week!
